Egypt has unveiled its new administrative capital, the Capital Business Park (CBP), located to the east of Cairo. The new city is expected to be the largest in the Middle East and Africa, with an area of 45 square kilometres.
The CBP is being developed by the state-owned Capital City Partners (CCP), a joint venture between the Egyptian government and the UAE-based Capital City Investment Group. The project is expected to cost US$45 billion, and is expected to be completed in 2026.
The project is part of Egypt's Vision 2030, which seeks to develop the country's infrastructure and services, and to create jobs. The CBP is expected to create 1.5 million jobs, and to attract US$15 billion in foreign direct investment.

The CBP will be connected to Cairo by a new high-speed rail line, and will be served by a new metro line. The city will also have its own power plant, and will feature a range of green spaces and parks.
The CBP is expected to become a major hub for business, finance, and technology in the region. It will be a major driver of economic growth in Egypt, and will create a new centre of gravity in the Middle East.
