Soleya 6 October is a city located in Egypt, part of the Giza Governorate in the north-western region of the country. It is located approximately 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) southwest of Cairo, and is considered to be part of the Cairo metropolitan area. It was established in 1975 by the then Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, after the success of one of his projects in re-organizing the country's economy. The Soleya 6 October Industrial Complex (named after the date of Sadat's announcement) is owned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and includes over 500 factories for textiles, plastics and chemicals as well as quarries and iron and steel mills.
